The Prince Edward Island or PEI Intermediate Experience Stream is one of the PEI PNP streams. The focus of this stream is to invite candidates for job positions in the NOC TEER 4 category and meet the labour market needs. 

The PEI Intermediate Experience Stream assists employers to hire international foreign workers who have at least 6 months of work experience gained in Prince Edward Island. This stream is perfect for immigrants who are already working in PEI in an intermediate-skilled job position and would like to settle there.

PEI Intermediate Experience Stream – Eligibility Criteria

To qualify for Prince Edward Island’s Intermediate Experience Stream, meet the following criteria:

  1. The applicant must receive a job offer (which must be full-time, permanent, and last at least 2 years)
  2. Job offered should be in an occupation in TEER category 4
  3. They must have gained at least 6 months work experience while being on a LMIA 
  4. The work experience should be related to their current job offer
  5. Their age must be between 18 and 59 years
  6. They must have completed high school
  7. They should be legal in their country of residence
  8. They need to meet language requirements (CLB 4)
  9. They must have a full-time work experience of 2 out of 5 years
  10. Intend to work and settle in the province
  11. Demonstrate sufficient funds

Requirements of PEI Intermediate Experience Stream for Employers

Prince Edward Island’s Intermediate Experience Stream is one of the extraordinary streams. This is because it offers employers a way to hire foreign nationals outside of Prince Edward Island. This can only be done if PEI’s Office of Immigration permits the employer. 

Other than that, the general eligibility requirements for employers to meet to recruit international workers via the Intermediate Experience Stream are:

  • The employer’s company must be actively in operation in last 2 years and must be struggling to hire locally 
  • They must have required documentation to prove their labour gaps
  • The vacant job positions must be required to be filled in
  • They need to offer a full-time job (for at least 2 years)
  • The terms and conditions of the job need to meet the provincial and federal workplace requirements
  • They need to offer a job which is located in Prince Edward Island
  • The chosen applicant for recruitment must be equipped with required talent, training, and education to perform the job
  • They must provide the applicant with a signed job offer letter (this must include the terms and conditions of the employment)
  • By accepting this job, the applicant must not get into any kind of employment dispute or bargaining unit agreement
  • They need to provide the applicant a LMIA (if they need it)
  • They must offer settlement support to the applicant (and their family members)
  • If the applicant needs licensing for the job offered, the employer must help them out

Intermediate Experience Stream Application Process

Learn the step-by-step process to completely fill out and submit a nomination application via the PEI Intermediate Experience Stream.

Step 1 – Meet all the above mentioned eligibility criteria and your employer should meet the requirements of the PEI Intermediated Experience Stream

Step 2 – Create an Expression of Interest (EOI) by providing the following information:

  • Name
  • Phone number
  • Date of birth
  • Passport details
  • Country of residence and its details 
  • Whether you will be hiring a representative or not

You may need to provide all these and more information while creating your Expression of Interest.  

Step 3 – Once you submit your application, and it is accepted by PEI PNP, you get a window of 60 days to submit a completed nomination application. After 60 days, the Invitation to Apply will become invalid and you will need to repeat the process again.

Step 4 – Though creating and submitting an EOI does not require any processing fee, you will need to pay CAN $300 for the nomination application processing. 

Step 5 – Submit your application once it’s completely filled out and you have paid the processing fee as well as attached all the required documents, you may submit it.

Step 6 – If PEI PNP accepts your nomination application, apply for Canada PR

  1. Birth Certificate
  2. Marriage Certificate
  3. Divorce Certificate
  4. Death Certificate
  5. Document proving a close family member lives in PEI
  6. Adoption papers
  7. Passport pages scanned copies
  8. Copy of temporary resident visa
  9. Copy of language test result
  10. Copy of academic credentials
  11. Resume
  12. Letters of reference
  13. Job offer letter
  14. Proof of funds
