1. Express Entry- Nova Scotia Experience 

The Express Entry: Nova Scotia Experience stream is for candidates who are highly skilled and wish to live in Nova Scotia permanently. The applicants must have a minimum of 1-year experience of working in Nova Scotia under the TEER category 0,1, 2 or 3 occupations of NOC (National Occupational Classification). 

Eligibility for Express Entry: Nova Scotia Experience 

Following are the eligibility criteria for Express Entry-Nova Scotia Experience. 

  • Candidates must have a minimum of 1 year of work experience in Nova Scotia. 
  • Applicants should be 21 to 55 years of age 
  • Candidates must have Canadian high school credentials or an equivalent degree from a recognized institution in your country and submit the Educational Credential Certificate (ECA) that prove that your degree is equal to Canadian standards. 
  • Must have a language proficiency in French or English language on the NCLC/CLB (Canadian Language Benchmark) level 7 for skilled work in the NOC category 0 and 1, CLB 5 for NOC category 2 and 3 positions. 
  • Get your profile registered in the IRCC Express Entry systems. 

2. Nova Scotia Labor Market Priorities 

The Nova Scotia Labor Market Priorities stream is for the selection of candidates who meet the provincial labour market needs through the Express Entry for applying for nomination.  The eligible candidates are those who have received a Letter of Interest from the Nova Scotia Office of Immigration. 

Eligibility for Nova Scotia Labor Market Priorities 

Candidates who want to apply for Nova Scotia Labor Market Priorities must have the following eligibility requirements. 

  • Candidates must receive a Letter of Interest from the NSNP within the federal Express Entry system. 
  • Candidates should submit their application within 30 days of the date when their Letter of Interest was issued. 
  • They must have a legal certificate of their residency in the current country they are living in. 
  • Candidates must have enough funds to cover up their and their family’s expenses while living in Nova Scotia. 
  • Must have the minimum work experience for the Express Entry stream for which you have been qualified. 
  • Candidates should have a valid Express Entry number and meet all the criteria of IRCC for the Express Entry pool. 

3. Nova Scotia Physicians Labor Market Priorities 

The Nova Scotia Physicians Labor Market Priorities stream selects the physicians to apply for nomination. The only candidates who are eligible to apply are those who have received an approved offer from the Nova Scotia Health Authority or IWK Health Centre and received a Letter of Interest from Labour, Skills and Immigration (LSI). 

Eligibility for Nova Scotia Physicians Labor Market Priorities 

Candidates who want to apply for Nova Scotia Physician Labor Market Priorities must meet the following eligibility requirements. 

  • Applicants must have an approved opportunity from the IWK or NSHA as either a specialist physician (NOC 31100 and NOC 31101) or a general practitioner and family physician (NOC 31102). 
  • NSNP will select the candidate from the Express Entry system and send them the letter of invitation.  
  • Submit your application within the 30-day period of time when the Letter of Interest was issued. 
  • Must have the minimum work experience required for the particular Express Entry stream for which you have been qualified. 
  • Must have a legal certificate in your current country of residence. 
  • Candidates must have sufficient funds to cover their expenses while residing in Nova Scotia. 

4. Physicians 

The Nova Scotia Physicians stream helps the public health system hire family physicians, general practitioners and specialist physicians in the province. This stream is specially designed to recruit and keep the doctors for vacancies that the province is not capable of while filling the citizens and PR in Canada

Eligibility for Physicians Streams

The Nova Scotia Physicians stream is only open for specialist physicians (NOC 31100 and NOC 31101), family physicians and general practitioners (NOC 31102) with signed approved opportunities by the IWK health centre or the Nova Scotia Health Authority. It must be officially announced by IWK letterhead or NSHA letterhead and must meet the following requirements. 

  • Dated and signed by the authorized person who is hiring physicians at IWK or NSHA. 
  • Signed and Dated by the applicants who are accepting this opportunity 
  • The College of Physicians and Surgeons of NS should indicate eligibility for licensure. 
  • Must indicate that the candidates are eligible to apply for credentials and privileges with the IWK and NSHA. 

5. Skilled Worker 

The Skilled Worker stream is for helping employers who want to hire international workers and international students who have recently graduated and whose skills are required in Nova Scotia. Employers in Canada are only allowed to bring on foreign workers in the event that no citizens or permanent residents are available for employment.

Eligibility for Skilled Worker Stream

Following are the eligibility requirements to meet for the Skilled Workers Stream. 

  • Candidates should have a full-time job offer from the Nova Scotia employer. 
  • Should be 21 to 55 years of age. 
  • Candidates must have a high school diploma. 
  • Must have appropriate skills and knowledge required for the job. 
  • Proficiency in English or French Language (CLB Level 5 for skilled workers and CLB Level 4 for low-skilled or semi-skilled workers) 
  • Sufficient funds to settle in Nova Scotia 
  • At least 1 year of work experience is required that is relevant to the job (for low-skilled and semi-skilled workers should have a minimum of 6 months of work experience with the employer who is offering this job.)

6. Occupations in Demand 

The Occupations in Demand stream specifically targets the TEER category 3,4 or 5 occupations that come under the NOC (National Occupational Classification) which are highly in-demand in the labour market in Nova Scotia. 

The high labour market demand and eligible occupations are identified by the Labour, Skills and Immigration (LSI). 

Eligibility for Occupations in Demand Stream

Candidates who want to apply for the Nova Scotia Occupations in Demand stream must have the following eligibility requirements. 

  • Minimum 1-year work experience relevant to the job. 
  • Candidates who have a full-time permanent job offer from an employer in Nova Scotia in either of the following. 
    • NOC 65200 (Food and beverage servers)
    • NOC 65201 (Food counter attendants, kitchen helpers and related support occupations)
    • NOC 73300 (Transport truck drivers)
    • NOC 73400 (Heavy equipment operators)
    • NOC 75110 (Construction trades helpers and labourers) 
    • NOC 65310 (Light duty cleaners)
    • NOC 33102 (Nurse Aides)
  • Must be 21 to 55 years old. 
  • Candidates should have a high school diploma. 
  • Must have skills and appropriate training required for the job. 
  • Must have proven language ability that should be equal to CLB level 4 even if your first language is French or English.         
  • Candidates must have sufficient funds required to settle in Nova Scotia. 

7. Entrepreneur 

The Entrepreneur stream is for candidates who have experience as business owners/ senior business managers and are planning to reside in Nova Scotia. 

Candidates should buy an existing business or start a new business and should actively participate in the day-to-day management of the business. 

After the completion of 1 year of operating the business, the candidates will get nominated for PR status. 

Eligibility for Entrepreneur Stream

The minimum requirements to be eligible for the Nova Scotia’s Entrepreneur stream are as follows. 

  • Candidates must be 21 years or older in age. 
  • Planning to live in Nova Scotia permanently along with owning and actively running a business in NS. 
  • Candidates must have a net worth of at least CAN$ 600,000. 
  • Must invest around $150,000 to start or purchase a business in Nova Scotia. 
  • At least 3 years of experience is required in owning and actively running a business with a minimum of 33% ownership in the business or have 5+ years experience in a senior role in business management. 
  • Must secure at least CLB Level 5 in French or English language in reading, writing, listening and speaking. 
  • Must complete an online Expression of Interest (EOI). 
  • The candidates will receive an Invitation to Apply (ITA) from the Labour, Skills and Immigration. 

8. International Graduate Entrepreneur

The International Graduate Entrepreneur stream is for recently graduated candidates from the NS Community College or NS University. 

Ex-students must have already started or bought a business and maintained a business for a minimum of 1 year. 

The application from this stream is by invitation only. If planning to reside in Nova Scotia, the graduate can get nominated for the PR status and the applications of the overseas Graduate Entrepreneur Stream are only by invitation. 

Eligibility for International Graduate Entrepreneur 

The eligibility requirements for Nova Scotia Overseas Graduate Entrepreneur are: 

  • Candidates who want to permanently reside in Nova Scotia along with starting or owning a business and actively managing a business. 
  • Must have a valid Post-Graduate Work Permit (PGWP)
  • Continuous 1-year experience in starting or owning a business and actively managing it (with at least 33.33% business ownership). 
  • 2 years full-time completed diploma or degree and studied in person at the Nova Scotia University or at the Nova Scotia Community College. 
  • Minimum CLB level 7 in French or English Language in reading, listening, speaking or writing. 
  • Completed an online EOI (Expression of Interest). 
  • Candidates should receive an Invitation to Apply (ITA) from the Labour, Skills and Immigration. 

9. International Graduates in Demand 

The International Graduates in Demand stream is for international students who have recently graduated and have enough skills and education to match up to the NOC job categories. 

This stream is currently open to workers who are from the following National Occupational Classification (NOC) job categories.

Eligibility for International Graduates in Demand 

Here are the following eligibility requirements for the International Graduates in Demand stream. 

  • Candidates should be between 19 to 55 years of age. 
  • Must have a high school diploma 
  • Respected Candidate must have full-time permanent employment that is  provided by the Nova Scotia employer under the NOC job categories listed above. 
  • Whether your first language is English or French candidates must have a proficiency should be meet the Canadian Language Benchmark (CLB) level 5. 
  • Sufficient funds are available to candidates who want to settle successfully in NS. 
  • Must have completed 50% of the program in Nova Scotia, the program should be at least 30 weeks longer. This requirement should be met by the candidates within three years of their application. 
    • Candidates who are applying under the NOC code 32102 or 32124, then they are allotted a diploma program. 
    • Candidates who are applying under the NOC code 33102, then they are allotted a diploma, certificate or degree program. 
    • Candidates who are applying under the NOC code 42202, then they are allotted a degree or a diploma.
  • Required to have certifications provided by the Nova Scotia regulatory bodies that are required for the job. 

10. Critical Construction Worker Pilot 

The Critical Construction Worker Pilot stream is for candidates who have a full-time, permanent job offer from the Nova Scotia employers in the construction sector. Candidates must have a job offer should come in the list of the approved NOCs listed below. 

Eligibility for Critical Construction Worker Pilot Stream 

Candidates who want to apply under the Critical Construction Worker Pilot stream should meet the following eligibility criteria. 

  • Candidates must be between the ages of 21 to 55.
