Steps to get an Italian student visa

Step 1: Secure Admission from an Italian Institution
Apply to a recognized Italian university or higher education institution. Once accepted, you’ll receive a formal admission letter that’s necessary to begin the visa process.

Step 2: Prepare Your Visa Documents
Collect all mandatory documents including proof of funds, accommodation, insurance, and academic records. Make sure everything meets the Italian consulate's specifications.

Step 3: Book Your Visa Appointment

Step 4: Submit Your Application & Biometrics
Submit the visa application in person along with biometrics and required documents. The application fee is non-refundable.

Step 5: Wait for Visa Decision
Italy study visa processing usually takes 2–4 weeks. You may be contacted for an interview or asked to provide additional documentation during this time.

Step 6: Collect Your Visa and Fly to Italy
Once approved, collect your study visa and prepare for departure. Upon arrival in Italy, you must apply for a Permesso di Soggiorno (residence permit) within 8 working days.
