How to get a student visa in Sweden?
Step 1: Get Admitted & Pay Tuition
Get admission in a recognized Swedish university and pay the first tuition installment. Final acceptance is essential before applying for the study visa.
Step 2: Prepare Your Online Application
Apply online via the Swedish Migration Agency with all mandatory documents.
Step 3: Submit Application & Biometrics
Submit your application and biometric data (photo and fingerprints) at the embassy or via the Migration Agency’s digital passport check
Step 4: Wait for the Decision
Processing takes up to 2 months for higher education permits. You may be asked for additional information.
Step 5: Receive Residence Permit Card
Upon approval, collect your residence permit card and prepare for arrival in Sweden
Step 6: Arrive & Register Locally
Register with the Swedish Tax Agency to receive a “personnummer” (national identity number) and obtain a Swedish ID card
