“ Since the beginning of the year, B.C. has sent out over 9,000 invitations to apply for a provincial nomination.”
In two Provincial Nominee Program (PNP) draws held on September 28, 2021, British Columbia invited 422 immigration hopefuls.
As part of its PNP programme, British Columbia has been conducting two distinct rounds of invites twice a month since February. Due to a significant number of applicants registering for particular occupations in the BC PNP Skills Immigration Registration System (SIRS), B.C. has started holding an additional draw to balance the demands in all areas of the provincial labour market.
In the general draw, candidates from the British Columbia Provincial Nominee Program (BC PNP) Skill Immigration (SI) and Express Entry BC (EEBC) streams got invitations. Invitations were sent to those in the SI and EEBC streams from the Skilled Worker, International Graduate, Entry Level, and Semi-Skilled sub-categories. For that draw, the minimum scores ranged from 69 to 90 points. A total of 386 people were asked to participate.
Candidates whose occupation falls within NOC 0621 or NOC 0631 were targeted in a separate draw under the SI and EEBC categories. The draw yielded 36 invites with a combined score of 105.
B.C. has issued a total of 9,083 invitations across several BC PNP streams so far this year.
About the BC PNP
The BC PNP attempts to attract foreign employees who are in high demand in the province and want to settle in Canada permanently.
Skills Immigration and Express Entry are the two immigration streams in the BC PNP, both of which are separated by sub-categories. The Skills Immigration Registration System in British Columbia manages these streams (SIRS). Before you may apply through the SIRS, you must first create an account. After that, you’ll be given a score based on variables including your education, employment experience, and language abilities.
When British Columbia conducts one of its regular draws, the top-scoring candidates from each sub-category are invited to apply for a provincial nomination to apply for a Canada PR.
You have 30 days from the date of the invitation to submit a complete application using the BC PNP online system if you got an invitation. Within two to three months of submitting a complete BC PNP application package, you will be notified of the province’s decision. If your nomination is accepted, you will be entitled to apply for permanent residence status under the Provincial Nominee Class with Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC).
From the date of confirmation, the nomination is valid for about six months.
You may obtain an additional 600 points as a provincial nominee under the CRS points calculator, allowing you to receive an Invitation to Apply (ITA) at a subsequent federal Express Entry draw.
