A wonderful bit of news has emerged from Canada recently. Quebec, a Canadian province which has been somewhat out of bounds for international immigrants since it does not follow the Express Entry immigration patterns.
However, earlier this month on August 2nd, Quebec officially changed its immigration process and made is very similar to the Express Entry program. So, candidates who want to move to Quebec will be able to apply for a Quebec Selection Certificate.
How Does This Benefit Me?
Now that Quebec has changed its immigration process, applying for immigration is much easier. This means that you can apply for it at any time and getting selected is not so hard anymore. At the very least it gives you one more option to choose from when looking to immigrate to Canada. Also, the Quebec Immigration Ministry has said they are about to launch a new immigration application for the province next month in September. Here is a general idea on how you should apply.
How Can I Apply for Quebec Immigration?
Earlier, Quebec had a very different immigration application process from the rest of Canada. This stopped many people from applying. But since they have now changed the process, it has become much easier to apply. Now, you just need to follow the same formula for applying as you would for other provinces. Here is an introduction to the process.
The first thing that you will need to do is make an Express of Interest or EoI. This means you need to show that you want to move to Quebec. To do this, you will need to go to the Quebec Immigration Application website when it opens in September. At present, this online portal is being called Arrima.
Once you are on the website, you just need to fill out a simple form. Just like in Express Entry, you will be asked a number of questions. These will include things like your personal information like age, education, work experience, language ability etc. Note that if you know French, then you have a much better chance of getting selected for Quebec Immigration.
Aside from the personal info, you will also need to give other information like family details, status in Quebec, job offer details etc. if any of these are present in your case. Once you have done all of this, the Quebec immigration ministry will assess your application. If your score is higher than their basic requirement, then you will get a Quebec Selection Certificate. This certificate is also called Certificat de sélection du Québec or CSQ.
