Manitoba Career Employment Pathway: Eligibility & Steps

Manitoba-Career-Employment-Pathway

Manitoba Career Employment Pathway under the MPNP International Education Stream helps eligible post-graduate students who graduate from an institution in Manitoba and get a job in the province in an in-demand occupation. If you meet both the conditions, you will be eligible to apply through the MPNP Career Employment Pathway immediately after graduation and getting a job-offer.

Eligibility Requirements

The eligibility requirements for the Career Employment stream are listed below.

  1. You should have completed your graduation in the last 3 years.
  2. Your graduation should be from a designated post-secondary educational institution in Manitoba
  3. The academic program should be full-time and of at least one year duration.
  4. You must also acquire a full-time job offer with at least one year contract from a valid employer in Manitoba.
  5. Your job offer must belong to an in-demand occupation in Manitoba
  6. You should already be working in Manitoba at the time your MPNP application is assessed.
  7. You must have a valid work permit or should be eligible to extend your Post Graduate Work Permit (PGWP)
  8. You must be proficient in either French or English and have a minimum score of CLB/NCLC 7 in the language proficiency tests. The tests must not be older than 2 years.
  9. You must have sufficient settlement funds to prove that you can independently sustain yourself in Canada for 6 or 12 months. You must have at least CAD $10000 as your settlement funds. This increases by CAD $2000 with each additional family member. If you have an ongoing job in Manitoba you might not need to have CAD $10000 as the MPNP will assess your current income. If you have an Express Entry profile, you will need to have CAD $13,757 as minimal settlement funds.
  10. You must be staying in Manitoba at the time of submitting your application. You must be able to clearly demonstrate your intentions to live, work, and settle in the province permanently. You will need to submit a Career Employment Plan.

Steps to Apply to Career Employment Pathway

Applying to the Career Employment Pathway under the International Education Stream includes five stages.

  1. Register in the MPNP online portal and create an Expression of Interest: You will need to submit information such as your age, language proficiency, education, work experience, prior connection to the province, details and NOC code of your job-offer, etc. Your Expression of Interest is valid for a year. You can have only one active EOI at a time.
  2. Submit your EOI and get a score out of 1000 in the Manitoba PNP score calculator. This score is based on the scoring factors like language proficiency, age, education, work experience, adaptability, and risk assessment.
  3. Get a Letter of Advice to Apply or LAA in the MPNP draws. MPNP draws usually come out every second Thursday. Every draw has an EOI cut-off score for each MPNP pathway. You will get a Letter of Advice to Apply if your score is equal or higher than the cut-off. An LAA should not be confused with a provincial nomination.
  4. Submit a completed application with paperwork within 60 days. Pay the non-refundable application fee of CAD $500. This is the stage where you will need to submit all your documents to support your application. Submitting a complete application will ensure that it is processed within 6 months.
  5. After assessment and approval you will get nominated by the Manitoba Provincial Nominee Program (MPNP). This nomination is valid for 60 days or two months.
  6. Apply to IRCC for Canada PR through the Provincial Nominee Program pathway within 6 months of becoming a provincial nominee.
