Starting 6th April, 2023, some PGWP holders, or people with a post-graduate work permit can apply for an open work permit in Canada. This will give them a chance to change their immigration status of a TR to become a PR in Canada! Recently, IRCC announced that those who pass the eligibility criteria would be able to apply for an open work permit. The validity of this open work permit will be 18 months long.   • You need to log into your IRCC Secure Account so you would be receiving all the emails. 
  • In case you don’t have an account, make one right now and make sure that your latest PGWP application is linked to it. The last date of doing so is 20th May, 2023. 
  • Your passport needs to be updated. The passport should not expire before June, 2025.
