IRCC will accept applications under the Parents and Grandparents Program

Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) will provide opportunities for sponsorship applications under the Parents and Grandparents Program (PGP). To begin inviting candidates, IRCC will not open a new category. Instead, it will send out invitations to already present sponsors in the pool of submissions from 2020. This means since 2020, no applications have been accepted under the Parents and Grandparents Program.

So, to all those who submitted applications to sponsor their parents and grandparents back in 2020 but haven’t since received an invitation, can now check their email account.

Canada Immigration Levels Plan

The Immigration Levels Plan of Canada is released every year in which immigration goals are set out. The number of permanent residents to receive invitations under each immigration pathway is in the plan.

In 2023, the overall permanent resident target is to invite about 465,000. Out of that, Canada will welcome about 28,500 under the Parents and Grandparents this year.

This is a very good opportunity for Parents and Grandparents to get sponsored and get to live in Canada as a permanent resident.
