This page will provide all the necessary information regarding Express Entry draws of Canada. Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) conducts these draws at frequent intervals to invite skilled workers and grant them permanent residence in Canada. Without further ado, let’s get started!

Canada Express Entry: All Programs

The Express Entry is an online system that manages immigration applications of eligible skilled workers. It ranks the application of candidates on various factors such as age, language proficiency, work experience, etc.

Once a candidate puts in all their details, they receive a Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) score. Candidates are scored out of 1,200 points in all.

Moreover, there are 3 programs that work under the Express Entry system. They are:

  • Federal Skilled Trades Program
  • Federal Skilled Workers Program
  • Canadian Experience Class

Each of these programs process immigration applications on different eligibility requirements. Let’s discuss these programs in detail below.

1. Federal Skilled Trades program (FSTP)

The Federal Skilled Workers Program selects skilled workers who are qualified to work in skilled trades. Moreover, FSTP also requires that the candidate possess a valid job offer/ certification of qualification.

So, if you are looking to immigrate to Canada and have adequate work experience in a skilled trade, FSTP might be the right immigration program for you.

2. Federal Skilled Workers Program (FSWP)

Federal Skilled Workers Program is another Canada immigration program under the Express Entry.

FSWP is mainly for skilled workers with qualifying work experience. Moreover, these skilled workers must meet other eligibility requirements as well.

3. Canadian Experience Class (CEC)

As the name suggests, the Canadian Experience Class (CEC) is for skilled workers with previous Canadian work experience. This work experience must have been gained in the last 3 years of applying under the CEC.

Immigrate to Canada in less than 12 months!

IRCC usually processes a permanent resident application within 8 months. Hence, if you are dreaming of building the perfect life in Canada in less than 12 months, Canada is the place for you!

The processing standard for PR applications is 8 months via Express Entry and so this provides an easy and faster way of immigration to Canada!

However, this is not the case with every immigration program. Thus, Express Entry is one of the best and simplest ways to immigrate to Canada.

Express Entry Eligibility Points Calculator

To calculate the points for Express Entry, there are two ways. You either calculate the:

  • Federal Skilled Workers points, or
  • Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) score

The Federal Skilled Workers program is one of the programs under the Express Entry and to be eligible for this program, one needs to score at least 67 points out of 100 points.

Both the ways of points calculation take into consideration different factors, such as age, work experience, education, language proficiency, etc.

On the other hand, there’s CRS points. The CRS points are not just for one program, but showcase the rank of the candidate in the Express Entry pool. A candidate receives a score out of 1,200 points.

Express Entry Next Draw Date

Since the onset of category-based Express Entry selection, the draws schedule has been unprecedented. Before category-based draws were held, usually, on an average, we would see a new Express Entry come out every two weeks.

However, now, the draws happen anytime, sometimes even consecutively for the whole week. While other times being on hold for over a month.

Steps to Apply for Express Entry

These are the steps by which you can apply for Express Entry are:

Step 1 - Get an ECA

If you completed your education back in your home country, you need to get the degrees evaluated to see if they meet the Canadian education standards. For this, get an Educational Credential Assessment (ECA).

Step 2 - Take Language Tests

Canada is a bilingual country, so you need to prove that you can communicate either in English or French. If you are proficient in both, that’s awesome! Hence, take a language proficiency test to showcase your language ability.

Step 3 - Create an Express Entry profile

Now, go ahead and create an Express Entry profile. Since you have ECA and language proficiency test results, it’s time to start creating your Express Entry profile.

In the profile, you enter information about yourself. This information consists of your work experience, your education, language proficiency, etc.

This information determines whether you are eligible or not.

Step 4 - Get an Invitation to Apply (ITA)

Once your profile is found eligible, it’ll be put in the Express Entry. Further, when the next Express Entry draw comes out, your profile may receive an Invitation to Apply (ITA).

Step 5 - Apply for PR

Now, you can apply for permanent residence (PR).
