Scoring factors of the Manitoba PNP Points calculator

Manitoba-PNP-Points-Calculator

The Manitoba PNP points calculator scores applicants on six factors: their age, language proficiency, adaptability, education, work experience, and risk assessment. The first step in the Manitoba Provincial Nominee Program or MPNP is to complete your Expression of Interest (EOI).

You will need to create a profile in the MPNP online portal. Once you register yourself, you will need to provide information about yourself such as your age, education, language proficiency, work experience, availability of a job offer, NOC code of your job offer, etc.

You will get points for all the information you provide while creating your Expression of Interest. This section includes the detailed information about the six scoring factors in the Manitoba PNP points calculator.

Factor 1: Language Proficiency (125 points)

English and French are the two official languages in Canada. Canada accepts TEF and TCF as the language proficiency tests for French. And CELPIP and IELTS are tests for English language proficiency. Later this year the Pearson English Test (PTE) will begin to be accepted by Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC).

Your language tests must not be older than 2 years. Score for proficiency is based on Canadian Language Benchmark (CLB) for all four fields of reading, writing, speaking, and listening.

If you’re proficient in both English and French, you must score at least CLB 5 to score points for second official language.

Factor 2: Age (75 points)

Age is the second scoring factor in the Manitoba PNP points calculator. Manitoba desires applicants who are healthy and young so they can be economically, socially, and culturally beneficial to the province. If you are below 18 years, you are ineligible to apply for MPNP.

The highest points for age are assigned to people who are in the age-group of 21 to 45 years. This is prime working age and therefore you get highest score (75 points) if your age is 21 – 45 years.

Factor 3: Work Experience (175 points)

Your EOI will get points for work experience only if it is full-time. Full-time work is equivalent to 30 hours per week or more. If you have acquired the license to work in Manitoba and have work-experience, you will get additional 100 points.

Possessing prior work experience proves that you have skill and are competent. You will score 100 points higher for Manitoba work experience in a trade or profession that requires certification or license.

Factor 4: Education (125 points)

It goes without saying, higher your academic qualifications, better is your score in the Manitoba PNP points calculator. Thus, profiles with master’s or doctorate degrees get the highest scores. Applicants who are young, are proficient in English or/and French, and are highly educated are prioritized in Manitoba Provincial Nominee Program or MPNP. It will be even more advantageous for you if you complete your education from an institution in Manitoba.

Factor 5: Adaptability (500 points)

The province of Manitoba assesses if a skilled foreign worker will be able to adapt to the province and its culture. Applicants who demonstrate any prior connection to Manitoba or a job offer or work experience in an in-demand occupation in the province are always prioritized. As a result, they get higher scores.

Factor 6: Risk Assessment (-200 points)

MPNP ensures that you aim to settle in Manitoba permanently and the province is not just a stepping stone for Canada PR . Settling in Manitoba must be your first and preferably only choice. Getting education or work experience in provinces other than Manitoba would deduct your score in the Manitoba PNP points calculator.

Once your EOI gets points, you will get a Letter of Advice to Apply in the MPNP draws if your score is equal or higher than the cut-off. You must then submit a complete application to MPNP within 60 days.

How to improve your score in Manitoba PNP points calculator ?

Where the CRS points calculator for Express Entry assesses profiles out of 1200, the MPNP points calculator awards your a score out of 1000. In most cases, you must score at least more than 600 points in order to have any chance in the MPNP draws.

Higher your points, better are your chances to get a LAA or Letter of Advice to Apply. Before submitting your Expression of Interest, you must assure the following factors to ensure that you get the maximum MPNP points possible:

  • Get high scores in language proficiency tests. Language proficiency is one factor that is completely in your hands. Ensure that you score at least CLB 8 in IELTS/CELPIP/TCF/TEF.
  • Try to be proficient in both English and French. It might appear challenging, but learning French or English as a second language might increase your MPNP score by 25 points. As discussed above, you must score at least CLB 5 to get the additional 25 points.
  • If you are above 45 years, and your points for age are getting affected, you can compensate for it by either getting additional post graduate courses in the province of Manitoba itself. This might benefit you under the adaptability factors and improve your score in the MPNP calculator.
