The Canada PR visa is valid for 5 years after which it can either be renewed or the PR holder can also apply for Canada citizenship. The Canadian permanent resident visa is a multiple entry visa.

After being granted permanent residence in Canada, the individual is able to live, study, as well as work in any province or territory of Canada. However, in any case, a Canada PR is not a Canadian citizen.

What is a Canada PR Visa?

A Canada PR visa is a 5 year long multiple visa that offers an individual to stay in Canada permanently. With a Canada PR visa, one is free to work anywhere in Canada and for however long. They don’t need a work permit to work in Canada. Similarly, a Canada PR is able to study in Canada, without requiring a study permit for this.

In the 5 years that the individual has been living, they can leave and enter Canada anytime. However, they need to maintain their physical presence in Canada. This means they must have lived in Canada for 730 days out of the 5 year period.

Once the permanent resident has been living in Canada for 3 years, they may become eligible to apply for Canadian citizenship as well.
