3,900 new candidates invited to apply for Canadian permanent residence in the latest Express Entry draw

The latest Express Entry draw held on October 02, issued a total of 3,900 invitations to apply (ITA) for permanent residency in Canada. All candidates with a Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) score of 464 or above, were selected in this round.

This latest draw witnessed an increase of 300 ITAs, over the previous draw held on September 18. The last recorded time of 3,900 Express Entry candidates invited by the IRCC, was on January 23, 2019.

Canada’s core source of foreign skilled worker is its Express Entry system. Currently, there are three distinct immigration categories in the Express Entry system – Federal Skilled Worker Class, Federal Skilled Trades Class, and Canadian Experience Class. Each eligible candidate is placed in the Express Entry pool, and is issued a CRS score based on certain facile factors such as age, education, work experience, language proficiency, etc.
Candidates with the highest scores are then, randomly selected from the Express Entry pool, and are invited to apply for Canadian permanent residence.

NOTE – You do NOT need a job offer to enter or to be selected from the Express Entry pool.

The draw held on October 02, brings the total number of ITAs issued this year to 67,300. IRCC could surpass its record of 89,800 ITAs issued in 2018, if it maintains the same pace over the final quarter of 2019. Canada with its higher admission targets for Express Entry in 2019 & 2020 has made it possible that IRCC will break this record. The IRCC typically holds Express Entry draws every two weeks, and the latest draw was no exception.
More time between the draws increases the minimum CRS score whereas, less time between them, like the latest draw, will help to lower the cut-off score.

It has been an innovative & busy year for Canada’s Provincial Nominee Programs (PNPs).

The two point increase in the cut-off score in latest draw, may affect a huge number of candidates with a provincial nomination, which is a prized asset that rewards candidates with an additional 600 points in the CRS score.
